Somewhere in most companies, someone rebuilds the same report by hand every month, and someone else is trying to make a decision off it. I do both ends of that. I connect the systems that hold the data to reporting that updates itself, and I do the finance work it feeds: bookkeeping and monthly close, forecasts, and the models behind pricing and financing decisions. I build the reporting because it's what I want in front of me when I'm doing that work. Some companies want one or the other, and most want some of both.
I work with companies that have real operations and no finance or data team of their own. I'm Dustin Kelly, a Marine Corps veteran. I've spent the last ten years in finance, picking up an MBA and a QuickBooks certification along the way. Today I'm in financial planning at a Fortune 500 supply chain company, and the consulting runs alongside that, so I take on a small number of clients at a time.
